Your Facebook likes are not the ultimate indicator of your page's health. In fact, likes alone aren't worth much at all now that fans can like pages without following posts and even go as far as to hide all of a page's posts without unliking it. So how do you know if your page is primed for growth?
Which of these pages do you think is performing better?
If you answered A - here's why you are wrong. Sure, Page A has more likes but social media is about engagement. Page A is engaging less than 10% of its audience while almost 30% of Page B's fans are sharing, commenting and/or liking the individual posts. Consequently, Page B is more likely to grow at a faster pace than Page A.
You probably already know that posts on your page are public. So are the comments and likes of your fans. Facebook is set up so users have the ability to see the things their friends are liking and commenting on. (They also have the option of turning that feature off, but that's another article for another day.) Every time one of your fans engage with a post on your page, it has the ability to act like a free advertisement to their friends. Consider it digital word of mouth advertising.
The higher the engagement to likes ratio, the faster your page will grow. This page has nearly doubled in size in the last four months because the page owner and her admin (not me) knows how to engage her audience. Nearly three times as many people interact with the page than the number of likes without paying to promote posts.
The moral of the story is - get people talking about your page if you want to grow.
